We spent over N87m on Jigawa State Water Scheme, during Covid-19 Pandemic – FG

The federal government says it has spent over 87 Million naira on the establishment and rehabilitation of water schemes in 8 LGA’s of Jigawa State during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Minister of water resources, Engineer Sulaiman Adamu made this known while handing over the projects to the representatives of benefitting communities and launching of a training organized for water scheme operators to handle the facilities at Shuwarin in Kiyawa local government area.

The minister who was represented by the North-West coordinator of the ministry, Engineer Sunusi Mai Afu,expressed appreciation to the state Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency, and the benefitting local governments for the support and cooperation in ensuring the successful completion of the projects.

He urged the participants to make good use of the training for effective operation and maintenance of the facilities.

In his speech, the permanent Secretary ministry of water resources, Engineer Gambo Mallam, said the state is leading other states on the provision of portable water to its citizens.

Gambo commended the federal and state governments for their commitment to boost water supply.

In his reamarks, the Managing Director of RUWASA, Engineer Labaran Adamu congratulated the benefittimg communities, and urged them to safeguard the projects.
