Reps vow to arrest, prosecute anyone who truncates legislative proceedings

The leadership of the House of Representatives has vowed to ensure arrest and prosecution of anyone who attempts to truncate legislative proceedings in the future.

The Spokesman of the House, Mr Benjamin Kalu disclosed this in a statement, a day after one of the factional leaders of the host communities physically assaulted a Traditional Ruler as he attempted to make a presentation during a public hearing.

Mr Kalu, who expressed displeasure over the development alleged that the actions of the culprits were contemptuous and constituted a breach of the sanctity of the House.

He added that they were immediately escorted out of the building and proceedings continued peacefully for the rest of the hearing
