FG is committed to supporting the operations of women-owned Micro, and MSMEs – Amb. Miriam Katagum,

 

The Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Ambassador Mariam Katagum, says the Federal Government is committed to supporting the operations of women-owned Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria.

The Minister made this known when a delegation of Federation of Women Associations in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (FEDWIM) paid her a courtesy visit in Abuja.

She explained that women entrepreneurs, through their ingenuity have always contributed to the economy and therefore needed to be encouraged.

Ambassador Katagum reaffirmed that women formed a very important constituent in the present administration, which is evident in the allocation of 45 percent to women-owned businesses in the Federal Government’s MSMEs Survival Fund Scheme to cushion the effects of COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Coordinator, Federation of Women Associations in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (FEDWIM) Mrs. Anne Ugbo said the association was in the ministry to brief the Minister about its programmes and to solicit support for its members.
