Members of the National and state Assemblies have been advised to as a matter of urgency come up with a legislation that will provide a specific role for traditional rulers in the country.
A traditional title holder the Wakilin Gwari Nupe Alh Muhammadu Awaisu Wana gave the advice while speaking to Newsmen in Minna.
Alh Muhammadu Awaisu Wana explained that such advice became necessary in view of their strategic and important role they played as custodian of people’s culture and tradition.
He however lamented that traditional rulers have been relegated to the background and that there is urgent need to restore their glory without further delay.
Alh Muhammadu Awaisu Wana also attributed the proliferation of insurgency to lack of clear cut role for traditional rulers in the constitution and called for urgent action to address such problems.
He maintained that most of the problems confronting Nigeria would be minimised through the provision of specific role for traditional rulers in the nations constitution.
