Bauchi State Government has reiterated commitment to sustain her working relationship with the United States Agency for International Development, USAID, to enhance its public finance management systems, for improved service delivery especially in its Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
The Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry for Budget and Planning, Yahuza Adamu Haruna gave the indication at the end of the two-day Workshop on State Action Plan Development, for implementation of USAID funded State Accountability, Transparency and Effectiveness (State2State) Activity, from July to September 2021, held at Yakari Games Reserve in Bauchi.
Yahuza Haruna said the USAID State2State Activity would positively make impact on the state public financial management systems, towards touching the lives of the people in the three focused areas of Primary Health Care, Education, as well as Water Sanitation and Hygiene.
On his part, the Executive Chairman of the State Internal Revenue Service, Alhaji Mu’azu Usman, who said the two days spent which resulted to development of the July to September 2021 State Action Plan was fruitful, expressed optimism that it would go a long way in changing the narrative.
Also speaking, the Director General of the State Bureau for Public Procurement, Engineer Joshua Titus Sanga said the USAID State2State Activity in Bauchi was apt in view of the fact that international best practice demands that Government business be done in an accountable and transparent manner.
Engineer Titus Sanga who stated that unlike the present, the previous administrations in the state, due process in procurement and award of contracts have not been adhered to, expressed delight over the manner at which things were being done under the present government.
He expressed optimism that USAID funded State2State activity has the potential to bring in new ideas in the area of procurement and other sectors of the economy.
A day before the two-day workshop with participants from the state’s relevant MDAs, Civil Society organizations, and Persons With Disabilities, a one-day orientation has been conducted for the newly inaugurated members of the State2State Transformation Committee.
The USAID State2State activity is being implemented in six states in Nigeria, to include Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Gombe and Sokoto.
