A total of thirty members of Vigilante in Niger state have been allegedly killed in a fierce exchange of fire with armed gunmen in Magama local government council of the state.
According to a Vigilante member who escaped unhurt that pleaded ananormity said the Vigilante members died while trying to recover some cattle that were rustled by armed gunmen from some community members of Magama local government council.
According to him some armed gunmen have also been killed during the gun battle with members of Vigilante.
Chairman of Magama local government council Safiyanu Ibeto explained that up to the time of filing in this report they were yet to ascertain actual number of Vigilante members killed during the gun duel.
All efforts to get reaction of Niger state police command has failed but Niger state government through Secretary to the State government Ahmed Ibrahim Matane confirmed the incident but did not however give details on number of casualties from both sides.
