Major General Farouk calls for collaboration from all and Intelligence-led operations to overcome current security


The Presidential Nominee for the Chief of Army staff, Major General Farouk Yahaya, has called for collaboration from all and Intelligence-led operations to overcome the current security challenges in the country.

General Yahaya stated this in Abuja during his screening by the House of Representatives joint committees on Defence and Army.

He pledged a harmonious working relationship with other service chiefs while reminding Nigerians that the enemies troubling the nation live within the people.

The nominee, also pledged to bring his 36 years wealth of experience and commitment in the service to bear in serving as the Army boss.

The Chairman House Committee on Defence, Mr. Babajimi Benson said the house is adopting legislative measures aimed at strengthening the country’s armed forces to meet the current security challenges.

While challenging the new Chief of Army Staff to be more proactive and innovative in dealing with the security challenges, Mr. Benson explained that providing more support to the armed forces would rid the country off insurgency, banditry and other criminalities

The Minister of Defence, Gen. Bashir Magashi represented, by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Musa Istifanus expressed the hope that with well trained, adequately equipped and well-motivated personnel, Nigeria will be more secure and safer.
