The National Assembly has been urged to handle the ongoing amendment of the 1999 Constitution with due diligence to enable it succeed.
The President of Nigerian Political Science Association (NPSA), Professor Hassan Salihu made the call in a statement in Ilorin.
He said the exercise is capable of dousing the existing tension among Nigerians of different ethno-religious background.
According to him the National Assembly should be transparent, honest and follow the law in carrying out the task of Constitution amendment.
Professor Salihu urged President Muhammadu Buhari not to hesitate in signing the document when the process is concluded.
