The Minister of Women Affairs Dame Pauline Tallen has re-inaugurated the Technical Working Group (TWG) to ending such violence against children to tackle the escalating violence against children especially with the advent of insurgency, and COVID-19.
In a statement signed by the Director, Press & Public Relations Mr. Olujimi Oyetomi, all forms of violence against children must end by 2030, and the timeline for the TWG is 5 years with the active participation of all members under the coordination and leadership of Federal Ministry of Women Affairs.
The Minister disclosed that the TWG was being re-inaugurated because the scope and terms of reference of the Group needed to be “up-scaled” as “proactive” and “collaborative measures must be put in place to squarely address all forms of violence against children”
While giving the terms of reference, Dame Pauline Tallen further charged the TWG to “take up from where the 1st TWG stopped and strengthen collaboration among relevant stakeholders and galvanize financial supports and technical assistance from development partners and donor agencies.
The Technical Working Group (TWG) to Ending Violence against Children is composed of 41 members representing Government Ministries, Agencies and Parastatals, Civil Society Organizations, International Agencies focusing on Children, Judicial Agencies, Media, Faith Based Organizations and many others.
