The Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Kebbi State Council has donated Cash and Foodstuff to the Families of deceased members to cushion their hardship during Ramadam period.
Speaking on the occasion, the Wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, appreciates the good leadership and the efforts of the State members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) in supporting the families of the deceased and the less privileged members in the state.
Reepresented by the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Women Affairs, Hajiya Zara’uAbubakar Wali, explains that, supporting less privileged and vulnerable groups was part of her passion and therefore, assured the Union of her upmost support and the State Government in making sure that the families of the deceased members are supported as much as possible.
In a remark, the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Information and Culture, Alhaji Garba Hamisu Zuru, described the gesture as timely initiative worthy of emulation, saying donating the food stuff to the family members of the deceased will boost the cordial relationship among members of the pen profession.
He appealed to the state Government to in addition to the donation of cash and foodstuff, look into the possibility of addressing the problems of accommodation and schooling among the late family members.
The Commissioner said that, the Ministry of Information and Culture is always ready to work hand in hand with the NUJ to ensure that the welfare of the serving, retired and deceased members receives the deserve attention.
Earlier, Kebbi State Council Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Alhaji Aliyu Jajirma explained that, eighteen families of late members benefited from this year’s donation package.
