Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA), has pledged to improve the living standards of widows of fallen heroes.

Kaduna State Chairperson of the Association, Mrs Maimunatu Ali-Keffi made the pledge while distributing palliatives to wives of fallen heroes held at two battalion, Ribadu Cantonment Kaduna.

Mrs Maimunatu Ali-Keffi explained that just as priority is given to wounded in action officers and soldiers, same would be extended to the widows through vocational and skills empowerment and soft loans to start-up small scale businesses so as to give them a sense of belonging.

She charged the widows to defy all odds and move on, take adequate care of their children and make them part of their struggles.

Some of the widows who spoke to Radio Nigeria commended the chairperson for the gesture, stressing that it would go a long way in alleviating their condition.

Some of the items distributed at the event include bags of rice, spaghetti and beverages, vegetable oil, maggie, salt, wrappers, toiletries as well as token amount of cash.
