The zamfara State commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro has paraded sophisticated weapons voluntarily surrendered by a repentant notorious bandits leader, Auwalu Daudawa.
The commissioner explained that, the Ex-bandit’s leader from one of the largest forest in Zurmi LGA of the state has voluntarily accepted the peace accord initiated by the state governor, Bello Muhammad Matawalle.
According to the CP, the Ex bandit, Auwalu Daudawa, surrendered Arms and ammunitions that includes 1 Rocket Propel Grenade, RPG; 1 Anti Air Craft Rifle; 1 AK-49 and 19 AK-47 rifles with 72 rounds of chain live ammunition of Anti Air Craft rifle.
Abutu Yaro who admitted that, the peace initiative in the state is yielding tremendous result, urged other bandits in the state to embrace the peace accord and surrender their weapons to sustain peace, security and improved economic, social and political development.
In a related development, Mr Abutu also paraded 14 operational motorcycles and Military camouflage uniforms recovered from fleeing bandits during an encounter with a combined police personnel led by DPO Tsafe who foiled the bandits attempt to rob commuters at Gidan-Giye village along Tsafe-Funtua road.
On his part, the Zamfara state Commissioner for Security and Home affairs, Mr. Abubakar Muhammad Dauran, said the state government is committed to ending banditry and other criminal activities through the Non kinetic approach.
