The United Nations High Commission for Refugees, UNHCR has donated seven operational Vehicles to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development to enhance their service delivery.
The UNHCR Representative in Nigeria, Ms. Chansa Kapaya who presented the vehicles in Abuja said the gesture was to enable the Ministry and agencies under it carry out their service effectively to serve humanity.
Ms. Chansa said the commission would continue to strengthen its working relationship with Nigeria.
“Working relationship that we have with the Ministry, it is a sign of our partnership. It is also an effort to contribute to the enormous work that you are doing, on behalf of the persons of concerns the IDPs, Refugees and Asylum seekers, we appreciate the work. We hope in the coming year with strengthen our working relationship and partnership”
Receiving the Vehicles, the Minster of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Hajiya Sadiya Umar-Farouq appreciated the Commission for the donation and gave assurance that the vehicles would be used judiciously.
“Thank you so much, we appreciate the partnership we are having with UNHCR, our primary partners in this country even when I was working with Refugees Commission. You have supported in so many ways in alleviating the sufferings of persons with concerns. The vehicles will be used judiciously to carry out our activities”
Hajiya Sadiya Umar reiterated Federal Governments commitment towards meeting the needs of people with concerns.
