The bill seeking to substitute the State Independent Electoral Commission has been pass into law by Kaduna State House of Assembly

Kaduna State House of Assembly has passed into law a bill seeking to substitute the State Independent Electoral Commission.

This followed the adoption of recommendations of the House Committee on Judiciary on the bill presented before the house.

During the plenary presided over by the Speaker of the Assembly, Alhaji Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani who commended the committee for conducting an indepth study on the bill and encouraged them to keep it up.

Under this law any body contravane will pay a fine of twenty thousand Naira or three months in prison.

The Chairman of the Committee. Mr. Bako Emmanuel Kantiok explained that the passage of this bill into law would ease the electoral process across the state.

According to him the commission will find it easier to conduct local government election next month.

Equally the screened management Board of the State Independent Electoral Commission without the Chairman of the Commission Hajiya Saratu Audu Dikko due to petition against her, the house refered her name to the committee in charge of petitions and directed to report to the house for the next line of action on her nomination.

In an interview the Chairman House Committee on Information Tanimu Musa said the house satisfied with the performance of those nominated by the executive to oversee the State Electoral Commission.

According to him the commission will conduct free, fare and credible election on fifteenth of next month.
