Senator representing Nasarawa South in Nasarawa State, Tanko Almakura has commenced installation of solar power electricity in communities and public boarding schools across five local government areas of the zone.
Speaking with Radio in Azara, Keana local government area of the state during the inauguration of the project, Paramount traditional ruler of the area, Alhaji Kabiru Musa described the gesture as the first of its kind in the community.
Alhaji Kabiru Musa said the solar power electricity would serve as a major boost in checking activities of hoodlums and other bad elements in the rural areas.
Principal, Federal Government Girls College Keana Hajiya Aishatu Muhammed who is also a beneficiary of the project said the solar power electricity would go a long way in addressing epileptic power supply and check insecurity in the school.
Senator Tanko Almakura, represented by Ambassador Designate Mr Henry Omaku stated that the initiative to provide solar power electricity in the communities was borne out of his desire to give people at rural areas some sense of belonging.
He called on the benefitting communities to take ownership of the project to serve the purpose it was meant for.
