SECURITY MEETING: Zamfara state government has held an emergency security meeting with relevant stakeholders

Zamfara state government has held an emergency security meeting with relevant stakeholders following resurfacing of arm banditry and heightening insecurity in some parts of the state.

The security meeting chaired by the state governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle focused on whether government should continue with its peace accord with bandits or to discard it for confrontation approach.

In their submissions, Heads of security agencies in the state, emirs, Islamic scholars and local government chairmen endorsed continuation with peace process initiated by the present administration.

Earlier speaking, the state governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle expressed dismay over negative utterances of some traditional leaders regarding the peace accord, saying this is a major set back on the efforts of government in ensuring harmony and sustainable peace in the state.

At the end of the security meeting, the state commissioner of police Mr. Abuto Yaro announced the outcome of the meeting which include all the stakeholders should facilitate the peace accord and ongoing peace process; endeavor to practically assist in the restoration of peace in Zamfara state; work with security agencies to restore law and order and to maintain peace in all the seventeen Emirates of the state.
