Refugees who seek asylum in Nigeria can now do business and live freely in Nigeria as Federal Government authorized Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, and National Health Insurance Scheme to register and recognize person of concerns into the systems.
This was announced at the town hall meeting Organised for persons of concerns, PoCs by the Federal Commissioner of National Commission for Refugees, Migrants internally Displaced Persons, Basheer Mohammed in Lagos.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Director of Refugees, Mr. Hassan Ejibunu stated that the development was as a result of the last town hall meeting held in December 2020 where persons of concerns raised issue over ease of doing business.
In her contribution, the Zonal Director of the Agency, Mrs Margaret Usegbu stated that the town hall meeting is essential towards improving the welfare of PoCs
The participants commended Federal Government for responding adequately for their various needs, however demand for empowerment for them to be able to contribute to the economical growth of the country.
The town hall meeting was supported with a medical check-up organised by Lekki lions club and Lagos Achievers.
