Not fewer than 13 million citizens are benefitting from National Social Intervention programme across the Country – FG

Federal Government says no fewer than 13 million citizens are benefitting from  National Social Intervention programme across the thirty six states including the FCT.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Hajiya Sadiya Umar faruk stated this at the training of over 90 independent monitors of the program in Dutse, jigawa state. 

Hajiya sadiya Umar Farouk who was represented by the Deputy Director Information and Communication Technology Mr Aminu Tukur explained that N-SIP was created by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016 with the mandate of lifting citizens out of poverty through a number of Social Interventions.

She said the special interventions include the job creation programme N-Power, national home grown school feeding programme, conditional cash transfer programme ,and the government enterprise and empowerment programme.

She urged the trainees to carry out the task with a sense of patriotism and work towards the vision of  President Muhammadu Buhari lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 10 years.

The Minister pointed out that, the participants will be assigned to monitor programme beneficiaries within their locality in schools, households, and market clusters with the focus of ensuring that the primary objectives  of these programmes are achieved.

Sadiya Farouk futher explained that, they will be closely supervised by officials of the ministry and their activities will also be monitored by the other stakeholders at the state level.

“It is therefore my expectation that you carry out this responsibility with outmost diligence and sincerity.
“Please be informed that the ministry will not hesitate to take you off the program if you are found violating the terms of your engagement”

She added that they are also working with security agencies like the DSS, EFCC and the ICPC to monitor these programmes. 

Earlier, the Jigawa state program’s Focal Person Alhaji Bala Usman Chamo called on the trainers to take their duty with all seriousness and be sincere in their reports.

According to him, this is not about political appellation, location or personal interest, but about the masses who are direct beneficiaries of these interventions.

He urged them to do their best to ensure the success of the program.
