New retirement age for teachers: Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT, Niger State Wing has commended President Muhammadu Buhari.

Niger state wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for approving a new retirement age for teachers in Nigeria.

The commendation is contained in a statement signed and issued to Newsmen by the union Chairman Comrade Ibrahim Umar and Principal Administrative Secretary General Comrade Labaran Garba in Minna.

It however called on the National Assembly to as a matter of urgency expedite action in passing the bill without any delay.

The statement further maintained that this would go a long way in enhancing and promoting teaching profession by according prominence to the training and retraining of teachers for maximum benefit.

It stressed the need for teachers to remain resolute more united and committed to their profession to achieve greater heights.

According to the statement there is also the need for teachers to reciprocate this gesture through hardwork and transparent honesty as whole mark symbolising teachers and teaching profession in Nigeria.

On reopening of schools in Niger state the statement charged teachers to adhere strictly to all Covid 19 protocols to ensure its containment.
