National Identity Card Registration: Kaduna Chief Appeals For More Personnel To Meet Deadline.

Chief Gabriel B. Galadima of Kudendan in kaduna State has appealed for more Personnel of the National Identity management Commission, NIMC to be deployed to his locality to fasten the National Identity Card Registration exercise to enable people in the area meet up with the Federal Government deadline.

The chief of Kudendan made the appeal while speaking with radio Nigeria at his residence and one of the centres for the National Identity Card Registration in Kaduna State, Nigeria.

Mr. Gabriel Galadima who applauded the Commission for its’ dogged effort to meet up with the Federal Government directive, said the exercise in Kudendan is being hampered by inadequate personnel to attend to the large crowd who troops in for the exercise on a daily basis.

The Traditional leader said the Kudendan registration centre has only two NIMC Officers who attend to not more than thirty people in a day, while others stay unattended to on a qeueu for the whole day since the exercise begins.

Gabriel Galadima expressed fear that with the present man-power challenges facing the ongoing exercise, the commission may not meet- up with the federal government stipulated period, hence the need for additional materials and personnel to speed up the national exercise toward achieving the set objectives.

Some of the people who spoke with radio Nigeria lamented that the exercise has been slow as they have been coming for the past three days without being registered, noting that others pay an undisclosed amount to officials of NIMC to get the exercise done, and when contacted, the NIMC officials denied the allegation saying, they have been working tirelessly to ensure a hitch free exercise despite the unorganised behaviours of the people to frustrate the registration.

Radio Nigeria Correspondent who visited some of the registration centres in kaduna observed that large number of people do not comply to Safety protocols for COVID-19 which he attributed to limited personnel to attend to the people and also lack of proper arrangement for the exercise.
