Kano State House of Assembly chapter of PASAN says they were ready for the planned nationwide indefinite strike

The Kano State House of Assembly chapter of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) says they were ready for the planned nationwide indefinite strike over the non-implementation of legislative financial autonomy.

The Kano PASAN Chairman,.Alhaji Ubale Yusif stated this while briefing newsmen in Kano.

He said that the strike would begin on Monday midnight nationwide.

Alhaji Ubale Yusif Explained that the indefinite strike was aimed to shut down the national and state assemblies over the non-implementation of financial autonomy by the governors.

He said in May 2020, President Muhammad Buhari signed an executive order granting financial autonomy to the legislature across the 36 states of the country, saying it was yet to be implemented by the governors.

The Kano PASAN Chairman added that after the President’s approval, the governors challenged the issue in court, but were not able to succeed in stopping the autonomy.

He explained that PASAN have no option than to embark on an indefinite strike to call the attention of the governors.

“We were instructed by our national body not to negotiate with anyone on the issue, and I assure you that we are not going to engage in any discussion with someone”
