Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle of Zamfara state has called on federal government to deploy more troops to the north west zone to overcome the activities of bandits in the region.
The Governor made the call when the newly appointed service chiefs visited him in Gusau during their working visit in the zone to access the performance of their troops.
Bello Matawalle assured timely support to all security agencies working in the state with a view to end all forms of criminalities in the state, and the zone in particular.
He also commended the effort of president Muhammad Buhari for deploying about six thousand troops to the state and urged them to hunt for the bandits in every nook and cranny of the state to avoid the spread of the calamity to other parts of the country.
The Governor also urged them to destroy all bandits camps in the zone as well as to blocked all their routes so as to have lasting peace in the state, zone and the country at large.
Earlier, the chief of defence staff General Lucky Irabor assured their readiness to end banditry in Zamfara state, north west zone and the country in general.
He also called on governments and people of the states to support the troops with useful and timely information that will assist them to overcome the issue of security challenges bedeviling the country.
