The Federal Government has approved a new condition of work and scheme of service document for staff of Digital economic sector.
Presenting the document in Abuja, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ibrahim Pantami said the scheme became necessary due to the critical economic role played by staff and operatives in the sector.
Dr Pantami said the digital economy sector is four times the value of the second largest sector in Nigeria which is agriculture therefore its operatives must work under conditions that befits their role.
He said the Conditions of Service is also to re-engineer the operations and structure of the Agency with the aim of providing an enabling environment for effective strategy development.
The minister said the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and NITDA have developed a Career Structure (Scheme of Service) and Conditions of Service.
The Director General of the NITDA Kashifu Abdullahi and that of the NIMC, Mr Aliyu Abubakar pledged to reciprocate the gesture of the Federal Government by safeguarding the sanctity of the Digital economy sector.
The new condition which took five years of review and representation is expected to manage the operational hazards, risks, secrecy, efficiency and dress code of the Digital economy sector operatives.
