The Federal Government has approved a 10 million Naira grant to five ICT innovative start-up ideas to aid their development and perfection.
The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Ibrahim Isa Pantami stated this at an event to mark the World Innovation and Creativity Day in Abuja.
Dr Pantami said start up ideas which have made young millionaires in various parts of the globe is being given priority by the Federal Government in Nigeria.
The Minister said the Innovation and Creativity day celebration was meant to encourage young Nigerians on the diverse employment and resourceful opportunities in the ICT sector.
The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, Mallam Kashifu Abdullahi said the Agency was working to set new targets and market- creating innovative ideas to develop various sectors.
Two of the start up innovators and grant beneficiaries, Ajiboye Mayowa and Nwachinemerem Emeka said the grant would be channelled to research on effectiveness of their innovations.
The event featured presentation of the start up innovations’ operatability and panel discussions on ICT viability for the Nigerian youth.
