FCT Administration to spend about 83 billion Naira on infrastructure and related projects

The Federal Capital Territory Administration is to spend about 83 billion Naira on infrastructure and infrastructure-related projects in various sections of Abuja.

Speaking with State House correspondents on the projects, the Minister, Mallam Muhammad Bello, said the amount would cover 6 memornda he presented to the Federal Executive Council, FEC, for approval.

He explained that the first memorandum was the upward review of the contracts for the rehabilitation and expansion of the outer-southern expressway to Ring Road One in the city, to over 15 billion Naira, to be completed in 24 months.

Mallam Muhammad Bello said the third project was the rehabilitation of phase one of the federal secretariat, which involves electro-mechanical and systems, as well as sundry work.

The Minister explained that approval was given for the Abuja Environmental Protection Board to overhaul its 1500 kva generator, adding that FEC also approved the upward review of the contract-sum for the extension of the inner-southern expressway to over 47 billion Naira.

Similarly, he said approval was given for the review of the consultancy provision for the Independence and Constitution Avenue in the Central District of Abuja, to over one hundred million Naira.
