Current security challenges in Nigeria attributes to the failure of political class

The current security challenges in Nigeria have been attributed to the failure of the political class to provide the citizens the required leadership in the polity.

The Member Representing Kabba/Bunu and Ijumu Federal Constituency of Kogi State in the House of Representatives Mr Yusuf Tajudeen made the remark in an interactive meeting with journalists in the National Assembly.

According to the lawmaker, no individual is bigger than the state institution and until this is realized, nothing can be done right.

He however partly blamed the political class for failing to speak up in the face of insecurity and other national issues.

Mr Tajudeen also said that excessive affiliation and loyalty to political parties by some politicians is not helping to address the security situation in Nigeria.

He urged the federal government to fully equip the nation’s security agencies, especially the military, with the needed modern tools to tackle the secret challenges across the country.

Tajuddeen also called for the use of modern detection equipments at the nation’s porous borders to check arms smuggling and influx of criminal elements.
