Community Policing : Gov. Ganduje Inaugurates 704 Trained Constabulary


The Kano state Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has inaugurated the trained 704 Constabulary Police, at Kano Pillars Stadium, Sabon Gari, Kano, after graduating from Kaduna Police Training School.


Speaking during the inauguration Ganduje promised to get a total of 4,400 Constabulary men in due course, for the state, for the remaining period of recruitment exercise, all in an effort to allow the state continue with the peaceful atmosphere.


Disclosing that, “We are determined to secure our state to the best of our ability. This set of 704 is the first set in the series of 4,400, that we aimed to achieve in due course. We always seek for Allah’s help in this effort.”



Governor Ganduje assured that, his administration would not relent in its effort in promoting state security through community policing, saying his administration takes community policing very seriously.



He noted that his administration has sets committees at different stages in the society, which were aimed at making stronger, community policing strategy.




The Governor maintained that the stages of the community policing committees, as enunciated by his administration are that of Village committee, Ward committee, local government committee headed by District Head, Emirate committee headed by an Emir of that Emirate and state committee headed by the Secretary to the State Government.


He urged them to work hard and contribute their share in keeping the state secured and peaceful, he ordered them .



He promised giving them allowances to help them in the good discharge of their assigned responsibilities, that “Yours is a voluntary work. But we are designing some allowances for you. Another set of 100 people will be going for training, as a second batch of the exercise,” he discloses.



In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sule Balarabe, appreciated the state government for the effort.


“It is of good note to also appreciate the community policing committees set up by the state government. It goes a long way in keeping the state peaceful at all times.


While these constabulary are doing their best in helping the Command achieve alot of things in the security of the state, we are therefore calling on you to keep the momentum,” he advised.
