Yobe state Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni has commiserated with the people of Jakusko local government area over the unfortunate flood that consumed some communities.
According to statement signed and made available to Radio Nigeria Sunshine FM by Mamman Mohammed, Director General Press and Media Affairs to Yobe Governor, indicates that Governor Buni directed the State Ministry of Health and State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to provide emergency support to Girgir and Jakusko while investigation on the suspected case of cholera is conducted.
Similarly, the Governor directed SEMA to provide the flood victims with relief materials for their immediate needs to cushion their hardships, and compile comprehensive report on the destructions and the assistance required.
He urged the people to support the victims who lost their houses and farmlands to the floods.
“we should be our brothers keepers and to complement government efforts to make the victims comfortable.”
Buni appealed to the affected and other communities to vacate waterways to ensure free flow of rain water.
The Governor further directed the State Environmental Management Agency, to ensure that drainages and other waterways are evacuated.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the state and nation a safe, rewarding and fruitful harvest season.
