Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has expressed the preparedness of the state government to partner Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) on sustainable food security.
This is contained in a statement issued by Mamman Mohammed Director General Press and Media Affairs to Yobe Governor.
Governor Buni gave the commitment on Wednesday when he received the FAO representative in Nigeria and to Ecowas, Mr Fred Kafeero who paid the governor a courtesy call.
Buni said agriculture remain the main stay of the people and major means of employment of the people.
He said, Government would do everything possible to improve the agricultural sector for the benefit of the people.
The governor assured to provide the required measures to promote food sufficiency and security in the state.
The FAO Represntative in Nigeria, said the organization was introducing a new programme tagged “Hand to Hand” initiative to provide less privileged persons with technical assistance for long term sustainable food sufficiency and security in the state.
