VSF present livelihood support to families of 61 deceased traditional rulers in Borno state

 

The Victims Support Fund VSF has provided livelihood support to sixty one families of deceased District Heads under Borno Emirate Council.

The support is aimed at providing succor to families of district heads, Council members, members of royal family and other traditional rulers who were deliberately assassinated by Boko Haram insurgents.

Executive Director Victims Support Fund Professor Nana Tanko said intervention was at the instance of Shehu of Borno who made special request to the Foundation.

Professor Tanko explained that officials of VSF met with all the 61 families and personally shared their experiences and the support they needed.

According the Executive Director each family will get a cumulative support of about one million naira to enhance their livelihood.

‘We are supporting 600 school children each one of those school children was given writing materials, school bags, then we have inputs to farmers, the farmers are given seedlings, we are supporting traders, for women that are given processing machine we have provided materials to help them”.

Professor Nana Tanko commended the Shehu of Borno for his resilience and remaining with his people despite the challenges.

Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum commended General Theophilus Danjuma and management of VSF for the continued support to the state.

The Governor announced a donation of two hundred thousand naira to each of the sixty one families to uplift their means of livelihood.

“Today’s occasion is especially designed to uplift the morale and boost the resilience of families of District Heads, Village Heads other members of Borno emirate council. The families deserve every support to cope, shock and vulnerability”.

Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi lauded the Victims Support Fund for coming to the aid of families of deceased traditional rulers.
