Six feared dead as armed bandits invades Shiroro communities*


Over six persons have been feared dead when armed bandits invaded some communities in Shiroro local government council of Niger state.

Some of those that died were said to have drowned in river Kaduna while trying to escape from the armed bandits.

The armed bandits who were large in number are said to have started their operation at Akere railway station where they reportedly killed one person before extending their assault to the fish market.

Investigation conducted by Radio Nigeria revealed that on seeing the bandits many traders ran into the river trying to escape without minding whether they can swin or not.

Unknown to some of the villagers another group of bandits were at other side of the river waiting for those who swam to safety at river bank and started shooting at them sporadically killing many villagers.

Member representing Wushishi constituency at the Niger state House of Assembly Alh Bashir Lokogoma confirmed the incident in a telephone interview.

Alh Bashir Lokogoma said yes there is attack in Wushishi by armed bandits there are casualties but cannot say how many.
