Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state says the state government is committed to providing sustainable water supply and improving the financial viability of the existing water utilities in the state.
He stated this while commissioning the Bado Kasarawa water supply project under the third National Urban Water sector reform project.
According to him, the desire to provide clean drinking water is clearly demonstrated in the state annual budgetary allocation of sufficient funds for the water supply sector in the state.
Governor Tambuwal expressed his appreciation to the federal ministry of water resources and world Bank for the their contributions to the success of the project.
He called on the benefiting communities to take ownership of the project by ensuring it’s proper utilization and protection against misuse and vandalization.
Earlier in his speech, commissioner for water resources in the state, Alh.Umar Bature said the water project consists of five number of large diameter hybrid boreholes blended with dual advantage of using solar and mechanical, construction of one hundred thousands litre capacity steel welded tank, construction of high lift pumping station and installation of three new pumps.
He added that the benefiting areas include Bado Housing estate, Badon barade,Badon hanya and Bado Aka.
