In Zamfara state, bandits have been given two months within which to embrace peace process and surrender their weapons to the state government.
The state governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle stated this in a state broadcast on the security situation and new measures aimed at defeating banditry in the state.
He said the state government has with immediate effect prohibit movement of motorbikes in convoy and conveyance of more than two persons.
According to him, traditional rulers and local government councils sole administrators are directed to always remain in their respective domains to monitor the influx of any suspicious characters.
Governor Matawalle added that all political actors have been called upon to desist from any act capable of endangering the state’s security, as the security have been directed to monitor the activities of all political actors and take appropriate action against violators.
He also appreciates the federal government for its plan to deploy six thousand soldiers in the state to clear the recalcitrant bandits.
