Twenty five members of vigilante and volunteers have been killed by armed gunmen in an ambush at Kotonkoro in Mariga Local Government Council of Niger state.
They were killed this week in the forest by the armed gunmen during an ambush.
Commandant Vigilante Group Mariga Local Government Council Malam Abu Hashim stated this in a telephone interview with Newsmen.
Malam Abu Hashim said they have presently recovered twenty bodies while the remains of other five members are still at large in the forest.
The armed gunmen who were in their large numbers riding motorcycles ambushed the vigilante members and volunteers who do are on an operation mission in search of banditts.
Meanwhile one soldier has been killed and another injured in an exchange of fire with armed gunmen at Kotonkoro while some armed gunmen have also been killed.
But a combine team of the Army vigilante memebers and volunteers have entered the forest in search of gunmen.
